In her drawings, photographs and video art, Christina Peretti (b. 1980) manifests her view of the connections between nature, man and art. Geology is a parallel world for the artist. She uses geological metaphors such as crystal, volcano, ice, sediment, air , to describe artistic, psychological or social processes. The movement of physical, mental or philosophical levels is a focus of her work. She works partly interdisciplinary, among others with the disciplines dance, film and architecture. The connections between analog and digital media are another theme of her work, with drawing as the common thread in ever new dimensions.
As part of the specialization studies in art, guided tours were conducted by Christina Peretti on the topic of drawing and visual notation for PH students. Afterwards, a discussion round led by Christina Peretti took place with the students in the basement of the LUKB.
What associations and thoughts were triggered? What does art mean to viewers personally and in their prospective work? What can drawing be all about? What roles does drawing have in the context of art, story telling, media literacy development, and teaching?
The exhibition of both analog and digital drawing works and the artistic strategies presented served as a field of inspiration for the studio discussion.
The workshop of Christina Peretti on the topic "Searching for traces in crystal" starts with a viewing and discussion of the works of the artist in the gallery Billing Bild in Baar. This offers on the one hand a field of inspiration, as well as an exercise in art viewing. Christina Peretti will present her artistic strategies and approaches and answer questions.
In the drawing laboratory, which is set up in the middle of the gallery, the students then draw themselves using magnifying glasses and crystals and are individually advised by Christina Peretti. The goal is to find their own realizations and associations.
The students' works will be discussed after the production. Through the combination of inspiration, contemplation of works, self-activity and reflection, a learning process is created. The focus is on independent, practical work and the development of creativity: Create to learn.
In March 2021, the work "the night will give you a horizon" was shown at the annual exhibition of regional artists at the Bündner Kunstmuseum. Because events and conversations on site were less possible under the given circumstances, the artist Christina Peretti and the art historian Dr. Martina Kral created a digitally accessible discussion of the work.
In the double exhibition with Sipho Mabona, the artist showed an overview of various drawing works created in the period 2011-2019. The theme of crystal, as well as the networking geology were the focus. The artist develops facets of drawing in carriers such as video, sound, performative- LED light drawing and photography, as well as classic handmade paper. Connections of analog and digital forms are created.
The Art house Grison in Chur will be showing works from regional artists in 2018. Dr. Nicole Seeberger guides us through the exhibition "Focus Graphic". In a room on the theme of nature, she describes works by Augusto Giacometti, Mirko Baseliga, Dominik Zehnder and Christina Peretti.
The work of Augusto Giacometti, who studies butterfly wings, is juxtaposed with a work by Christina Peretti, who observes minerals. Nature is a trigger of association whereby abstraction and association are worked according to their own sets of rules.
The video shows an excerpt of a conversation about the work "Ruby/ Peridot" by Christina Peretti.
